The year's coming close to an end and I've to collect finish my data ASAP. So far only one of the senior pharmacist empathised with me because she also went thru' another DUE in neonates. 45/7 kid can have 8 tomes to read thru' @@. Most of my peers all said I read too slow at 1 subject / hr *cries*
Another 30 more to go. Thank goodness my co-researcher printing the blurd data for me or else gone case >.<
I am enjoying my current stint as I felt more in control of the situation. I do my ward checks without big issues and were able to provide enuff supply for my wards. I think I'm getting a bit too obsessive given that I will check with EP whether has any nite supply for my wards before I leave the hospital.
Met one dr who's the darling of the wards. Looks-wise I dunno but he's really on the ball-type. Wonder how he gets past his calls with so much sleep deprivation. Nurses were singing his praises that he appears in the wards before they can dial the number. And when I went up to the wards one nite to do an intervention, he went "Why didn't you call me?!" Diaoz - too on the ball liaoz- like me. But I'm a workaholic that may just burn out. Quite a few will likely to go "Si mi?! Ai kio wah si mi dai ji?!"
I think I burnt my wallet yesterday. Really badly. Bought several miscellaneous things, membership with Kinokuniya, the manager managed to find my copy of <<Comprehensive Dermatologic Drug Therapy 2E>> - so no nid to wait 2 months for shippment. That copy originally went MIA in the store. The manager called while I was doing rounds for discharges, i called, I held, she was busy then she called X2 then finally managed to get hold of her.
The book's really godly. All about things dermatologic. Not just topicals but anything that affects the skin. A bit disappointed though to see just 2 pharmacist swimming in the pool of doctors - we can do much better. The 2 covered the usual suspects - pk and regulation. EVEN GOT PEDS AND PREGNANCY CONSIDERATIONS!!!
Should I buy a book a month from Kinokuniya next time? But lidat must buy new book shelf every eyar =p My room's flooded with papers liaoz.
Got a couple of donuts from Pop Doh - their milk donut's good. The donuts were light. I think next time Sat lunch time may switch to Taka instead =p.
Today got Australian giving tok at OSSEA meeting but decided not to go. My Sophronitis cernua var. minerva blasted so it's a sign to be absent ^^. Anyway I got too many things to do on weekends. I nid CRIC - Complete Rest In front of Computer - but I'm still typing out my work and pre-reg stuff Zzzz

Yesterday at SBG
Dunno how come I arrived there with lunch so late. Normally, I'll be earlier, lunch in toll to read my papers while munching lunch.
Amazon water lilies - but we all know these are fake ones. After seeing the real deal in Thailand, one would know that these are hybrids. The real ones have flower buds looking like durians.
Dunno wat tree but I like the colours of the blooms
The tiger orchids are skipping this year but the the Cympbidium finlaysonianum are in full bloom
3 different forms of Dendrobium Elizabeth
This dark yellow form is new to me.
Eria spp.
Led led pineapple
Another Eria spp.
Dendrobium spectabile
Dendrochilum spp
Epidendrum embreei
Encyclia garcinia
Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis
Euanthe sanderiana aka Waling-waling

Baiz Mrs Tan
Today I stayed back (as usual) but did nothing short of entertaining myself (sounds wrong) - farewell partay for one of our more senior pharmacist as she dives full time back into the relms of motherhood. Sad cases with the profession as many promising careers plunge back into reality in caring for the brood.
The outpatient people are really happening - they really know how to celebrate. We had fun and games and I made chocolate fondue again. They ladies were good at cooking. Shing^2 made her famous muffins with cream cheese topping.
Darn, did not camped in DDMs to scavenge thru messed up neonatal notes.

Now can sleep better
Had nightmares over my chewren rotation stint but after my assessment today, think can Zzzz better.
Dunno what happened, but I was told it did surprisingly well for viva. So ended up a bit loofy when I stepped out, tripped and fell =p

Miscommunication
I'm now on my O and G rounds of my pharmacy training and happened to chance upon a man with a young boy on my way to top up my water bottle.
Man: Sorry hor, you know how to get to the "free show"
Me: Sorry, what "free show"?
Man: "Free show" loh! My son every week go for "Free show". Every week he will go and play with that woman, what is her name... Aiyah, he will bounce and play around that woman is that "Free show"

No time ahhhhhhhh
Later when everything settles down then I start writing in retrospective.
Viva for chewren inpatient and outpatient, woman outpatient. The CIP can kill. Every time I cross the road, I just wonder how does it feel to be bakchored. Calculate TDM, patient developed a manner of complications and have to dose accordingly ahhhhhhhhh
Niece and nephew popped by from DownUnder. The kids are active but are generally well behaved. Now they flew back, Weiße's kinda gloomy again as he has no more playmates.
My Maple Pals were comprening my level had been noobified for a nong nong time liaos- no time to play mah.
3 topics to present a week, Alternate sats have 4 case presentation with all the island's pre-reg pharmacist, project with 80 cases to plow thru (neonate cases are really the most challenging by far - 40 day old = 7 volumes @@), 2 cases to present per rotation, 35 scripts to comment on with counselling points, feedback per session, self-reading to do, blah blah.
You decide as I go thru my DRESS case presentation.

It's a new rotation
Here i am, still in the abyss of the hospital looking or the meanings of NVD, LSCS, PROM, MTPT (sounds like NPNT) blah blah blah. Another burrage if topics to go thru in the new rotation while needing to go back to my old section to make up for the other topics.
Reviva seems to in the works, as onli 1 person managed to passed the ICU Qn; the other Qns are pending.
Went out before my weekly squatting poring over case notes and bought my cup of bliss - Saybon's seafood bisque - addicted liao. Point of no return. This time got a large cup and bratwurst shop's avocado chicken sandwich - their cashier all sound the same one. Oni the pony tail one more accented.
As i finished the current rotation, I wish i could turn back the clock. I'm a slow learner- and I just starting to enjoy and understand my role in that rotation. Unfortunately, time waits for no one and perhaps, I'm not destined to go there.
Will miss the docs and missies whom I made friends with. Will miss my wards. Now have to move on to the other tower where few men can venture outside. Need to exchange their numbers on Monday to keep in touch. But then hor, boh eng socialise now. Very much a failure.
Just saw my schedule for tomorrow nearly faint. My elder cuz neber inform me in advance of the happenings - have to help her collect ang baos at her wedding dinner. Tot i can slack but what the heck, just help out as a relative with abrupted notice. Must watch my mouth and BEHAVE kekekekeke.
Stil a bit sugar high from yesterday's fondue and I doubt I've eaten so many strawberries in my life before. Also still have the ward check rush from the change in HOs and MOs - quite a few re-dosing to do.

Aiyah.....
I think I going to RE-VIVA...
NO time to calculate the TDMed doses for my genta case. Only can do until the T1/2. Let's hope I made the correct judgement calls on the other doses for the antibiotics.
Luckily I still remembered one of the pharmacists asked me on how to dose prednisolone and also ask me to try to rpesent on Pneumonia earlier. Saving grace is the icing from the ice queen!
I am slow - got to admit it. The brain works very slowly. may be should start taking piracetam - no enuff O2 going to brain.
Very sianz - planned to do fondue on last day on my rotation and get some of the missies and loogoons to pop by for fondue - AND MY FAVE PERSON HAD TO MOVE ONTO ANOTHER HOSPITAL. JING SIANZ ARRRRrrrrr...... @#%#$ rotation. Need to shop for fruits tomorrow.
The PT's going to cook the special Burmese dish again - Moo-hing-ghna (dunno how to spell - their language got a lot of 6, 9 and 0 one). She wanted a second round of chocolate fondue so oblige loh.

A silent prayer
Today went for a very interesting talk on palliative care. IMHO, it's more of a talk on chronic pain management. But then the lecturers drove home a very important message about the role of the pharmacist - dun let the junior docs @#$% with you.
Went to buy the roast beef sandwich from bratwurst shop - last time i'm buying the beef sandwich: machiam salted-beef sandwich euuuuu. But the other chick stuff are nice
The saybons shop is in a rather poorly patronised and I can see the owner is slightly down. But her soup was not a let down and was consistent to the review in the newspaper. However that I disagree with the article to throw in chunks of stuff into the soup as it's already very rich - any extras may just spoil the soup's delicate flavour and its aura of glamour. Seafood bisque was the one I tried.
Sad to say, the market here is not for all that is savoury or time consuming to process. The consumers so far preferred quick fixes, easy to replicate dishes with low cost capital but sold at high prices - i know dun make sense but look at the array of hot sellers - donuts, bubble tea, roti boy. Easily replicable AND THEY SELL. Wassup?! That's why I keep to cooking and gardening as a hobby. There's no market here as consumers are unable to appreciate value of time.
Went back to work and met up with my supervisor. Apparently, I'm not doing well in my current rotation and soo doomed to get bad reviews due to my poor time managements and being unable to keep up with my presentations of the discussion topics.
I need to buck up even though I'm using a lot of time to go thru' this section.
As I read the notes, articles and textbooks before me, I'll mutter a silent prayer:
TOLONG LAH!!! PLEASE LET WHATEVER I READ GO INTO MY BRAIN AND FLOW OUT IN A COHERENT AND LOGICAL MANNER!!!
In the words of a troubled failure
VIVA IS COMING

in process
Aiyah... no time to go and photograph my Dendrobium capra and Dendrobium affine var. alba during broad day light as I'm back only late at night....
Yesterday MC - too tired to drag the plant and camera out as I was CRIB for a blazing sore throat with blurdy sputum. Can't Zzz too long if not get backache, so took out DIH, BNF, Katzung and DiPiro to do assigned discussion topics - in the end, I belonged to the 10% of users of cetirizine and slumped off even though I took Sudafed.
Got re-currently nightmares of my current rotation supervisor saying repeated "Fail assessment" in her hmmm (you fill in the blank - anything I type here will be used against me be it it's a compliment or not) voice.
Really not up to mark as yet. Today one of the other pharmacists explained to me her view on such discussion which I understood. I dun like plain suaning - I dun mind harsh remarks as long as there's guidance to the solution. I believed in making mistakes - that's why I just whack during Q and A sessions durign class time. Dun answer, means dun get at correct response or answer.
I think I'm now immune to EES s/e oreadi - dun get grumbling of the stomach anymore.
Tomorrow after the pharmacy soc training session, go PS buy something from Bratwurst shoppe, soup from Saybons to try out, see whether can get more chocolate bars for the upcoming fondue session.

Pain in the head
(facial area)
It's back again.
Bacterial sinusitis - spread to tonsils. bloody sputum, sore throat, cold sweat near the neck area.
Held ice pack to face again.
My voice starting to suck towards the end of the day - getting raspy. May be due to the stressful period. Couldn't bear to get a HO/MO to help me scribe my regular antibiotics as I still believe in proper Dx before Rx.
SO if still blurdy, I better go see MD tomorrow. Get MC and perhaps catch up with my Zzzz. 4 hours a day can kill. Sometimes I wish I can go w/o ZZzz - can abuse 24 hrs a day.
Need to do up my ABx presentation...

Sometimes I so envy the HOs
Pre-reg pharmacists can pull hair out some times. Suicidal thots lurking.
We got vivas, projects, presentations for individual topics, group discussions after work, journal club, case presentations.
Nearly fainted when my HO friend just call their stint day-to-day. No tests, no project, just evaluation by consultant once the rotation finish... The pharmacy people are being pushed to the limits for the miserable pay packet.
Being on-call has no difference to me since I've been sleeping 4-5hours a day eversince I stepped into pre-reg. Also stay until so late in the hospital that it make no sense to leave it when you only reach home close to midnight. Well, at least the HOs got their duty room to zzz. Too much research, too little time.
Had to camp in DDMs quite a while to clear my casenotes for my antibiotic study.
Poor time management is also on my part where I do not know how to prioritise. Too much effort on my project to the point where I lose contact with my core topics. Compounded with the LOS that is making lose my memory. More forgetful as the days pass - try to memorise more then get LOS then try to memorise more the LOS then forget everything again. Memory getting so bad that I some times forget who I worked with at the last rotation.
For the miserable 1.2 k take home pay after sloughing for 4 years in the uni, I wonder if it was the right path to start with. Too much effort for too little material returns, even though it is psychologically fulfilling at times. But then , no one works for free. Home at 2330 and out by 0730 - where got time for social life?

Weekend verli the busy
But doesn't involve courting - sianz sianz
Today got jabbed, tomorrow work then go hospital DnD, day after go into baking frenzy because of Female Onco support group food fair.
So this month no volunteer @ botanics because of DnD then next couple of weeks cannot donate blurd.
Also still in midst of completing my antibiotic tables and readings zzz
I WAN MAPLE LIAOZ. Haven't whacked some monster in ages.
Surviving on 4-5 hrs of zzzz is no joke. Some times I dunno what the docs are saying in the ICU. It's like swimming in alphabet soup with all the abbreviations.

I am sooo dying to use my Kinokuniya vouchers but now dunno to buy which bed time story book...
Comprehensive Dermatologic Drug Therapy -Looks super stunning and it covers a field that I rarely venture on therapeutically except on the basis of pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics.
Infectious Diseases of the Fetus and Newborn Infant - I <3 infectious disease - not that I wan to get them but I like to study them. Also another rare field but we already have experts in the field in the hospital.
But this one when pay cheque gets big enough MUST BUY - when I read liao, tears flow from my eyes because it is soooo good to read (but I can't remember anything as usu after reading it.)

Stockpile chocolate liaoz!!!
Another 3 more weeks left in CIp. Now have to make naughty and nice list for invitees to fondue partay. So all the ped HO/MOs/missy and watever who are reading behave hor
Hee hee
Next couple weeks jammed packed with readings, weekends volunteer guiding, night time cookie making, then another sat of blurd donation.
Now my pre-guiding prep will be a sandwich from the Bratwurst Shop with a cup of teh, relak one corner read about some stomach disease on the wooden bench facing some wrongly labelled Amazonica Waterlillies. The bratwurst shop sandwiches not bad - so are their soups but I NEED meat in soups. Minestrone soup very flavourful though.

Where got not pretty?!
The other day one of the NMs asked me in the wards the name of one of the pharmacists she just spoke to. I asked her which one and she said "The pretty one"
Then I thought - all pretty what. The female pharmacists here all pretty what. Where got not pretty one? Turned out to be the onco-pharmacist.
When I related the incident to the section head of my current rotation, she went "Assessment coming is it?! Suck-up!!!"
My honest opinion what - just stand one of them next to a (I better not continue if not got some serious reprecussion).
I think the pharmacists in my workplace need an identifier like the doctors - perhaps a purple stripe on the badge? I dunno how many times I tio called a doctor. I dun wan become loo-goon leh - diagnostics is not something I'm interested in. I more interested in tweaking treatments.
