My outing last Saturday - WL, Song's and AMK nursery
Took a break after a barrage of tests in that week - Pharmaceutics Pract Test, Natural Products Pract Test, Pharmacotherapy (Pyschiatric Drugs) Test.
Went to WL and Song (same compound) in the morning followed by a trip down to AMK to buy sulphur and HB101.
Song's
Unknown Eria-like plant
Ansellia africana
NOID Eria spp.
The colour was very unusual and dark. It was claimed to be sourced from Peninsular Malaysia but it looks like something I saw in the books on Philippines Orchids.
Phalaenopsis kunstleri
Phalaenopsis modesta
Catasetum pileatum 'Oro Verde' - these are clones of a very popular plant. C. pileatum comes in many colour strains - red, white, green, yellow amongst others. Like the name says, this strain is green gold in colour.
Newly opened - solli about shaky pic
Fading flower
Nobile (No-Billy) Dendrobiums - so called because Dendrobium nobile forms the backbone of plants of this sort. The most well known breeder of these plants is Yamamoto Dendrobium - these plants are therefore commonly known as Yamamoto Dendrobiums.
Dendrobium hybrid - heavy with Dendrobium canaliculiatum blood , whitened by Dendrobium affine.
Another form with purple lip
At Woon Leng:
A ceiling of Nepenthes
Interesting Phalaenopsis hybrid
Jumella comorense
Woon Cheng's father: Dendrobium Peng Seng
My fave Dendrobium carronii - I collected quite a few strains of this delightful xerophytic miniature
Some interesting Catt hybrids
I think this has Sophronitis bloodline
Bulbophyllum hybrid
The very olde and wellknown hybrid - Dendrobium Gatton Sunray. Oops about the very dark pic
In the WL Cool house to grow temperate orchids
Renanthera citrina
Paphiopedilum hybrid - likely to be Paph. Wössner China Moon
Paphiopedilum primulinum
This plant can be grown in normal local conditions without aircon though.
The new species from Vietnam - Dendrobium tuanhanii.
Aerangis citrina
Phalaenopsis stuartiana
This strain is sooo cute - palm-sized plants flowering
A Brassia X Ada hybrid - colour from Ada
@ AMK Nursery - took a 45 min MRT ride and took another 15 mins of walking.
Flowering begonia
More begonias - I think $5 each or was it $15?
Newly marketed novelty - cycad grown from seed. The seed casing was painted gold - like the solid gold walnut that was sold in the past
Interesting plant with marked leaves
The Heliconia grove at the side of the nursery - next to the AMK library. But very sianz0.5 the hirstute one not in flower...
Torch ginger for making rojak - note the pink bud popping out
