Fir Bark is the number 1 no no in Singapore - unless you are growing Coryanthes sp.

Grammatophyllum speciosum is a big big bulky plant and to change potting media will @@ you.

Fir bark ferments very fast in the tropics and the break down will make the media super sour - the plant will become stunted and die.

For big specimen plants like these, a more inert media is recommended. An added bonus is if excess salts built up can be removed easily.
